We gave it a 9/10 all those years ago, saying “Even as a person whose grasp of fighting games is nowhere near top-tier standard, Street Fighter V is the most fun I’ve had in a fighting game in years. Street Fighter V was a great entry in the series, and Capcom have continued to support it with DLC ever since it launched in 2016. Famous names return too, with Ryu and Chun-Li facing off against newcomers Jamie and Luke. The combat that we saw looks as bone-crunchingly good as ever too, with a hint at a return of the focus attacks of Street Fighter IV, which hopefully shows that they’re thinking about what the fans want and making sure that they’re in place. Is this a hub? Is it where you roam while you’re waiting for a fight? It’s quite possible that there’s going to be some interesting customisation elements that you might access through here, but whatever it is, Capcom are introducing something utterly new to the series. It looks like elements of Capcom’s Final Fight franchise might have snuck into Street Fighter 6, as there’s now a city to run around in and explore.
